Empezó el pasado lunes 16 de junio en Los Angeles con el director de televisión debutante en cine Jonas Pate detrás de la cámara. El proyecto es de muy bajo presupuesto, producido por el propio Spacey a través de su compañía Trigger Street Productions, y permitirá ver a los dos actores en todas sus capacidades interpretativas."Shrink", con guión de Thomas Moffett en su primera propuesta de entidad, gira en torno a un prestigioso psicólogo de estrellas de Hollywood (Spacey) quien después de sufrir la pérdida de su esposa e hijos en un accidente de aviación entrará en una espiral de abandono personal y consumo de drogas. Uno de sus pacientes (Williams) intervendrá en su vida para ayudarle a remontar anímicamente y evitar que pierda a sus clientes.Saffron Burrows, Keke Palmer, y el director Griffin Dunne y el escritor Gore Vidal como ellos mismos, son habituales en la consulta del psicólogo.

Kevin en un programa estadounidense, una lastima que no se transmita en Argentina...

No tengo muchas noticias sobre él, porque se sabe muy poco. Pero logre encontrar aunque sea un poco de sus novedades cinematograficas =)
Esta filmando 2 peliculas, Fred Claus (post-produccion) y 21 (filmandose). La primera esta prevista para este año y la segunda para el 2008. Ademas esta produciendo 21 y Fanboys.
Parece que habra que esperar un poco para volver a ver a Kevin en la pantalla grande, por ahora podemos conformarnos con ir al Blockbuster mas cercano y alquilar: Pecados Capitales, Cadena de Favores, Belleza Americana o Epidemia! =)

DVD Collection: Superman Returns

Bueno, hace unos dias llego el dia tan esperado, fui a buscar mi DVD de Superman Returns Edicion Especial de 2 discos a Blockbuster =) (reservandola con 3 meses de anticipacion te llevabas una remera de regalo, obviamente eso fue lo que hice =P)
La película cuenta con una cantidad y excelente calidad de efectos especiales.
A decir verdad, y aunque quizas parezca raro, el superheroe que menos me gusta es Superman, o sea compre la pelicula simplemente por la ESPECTACULAR actuacion de Kevin Spacey.
Y que puedo decir de él? A modo de opinion personal, las mejores interpretaciones son cuando hace de malo, como por ejemplo en A Time to Kill, si bien no es lo mismo, algo tienen que ver ambas actuaciones.

Mi puntaje para la pelicula es un: 6

Londres, 27 sep (PL) El actor estadounidense Kevin Spacey, ganador de dos Oscar, por fin triunfó en una obra teatral en Reino Unido después de varios fracasos.

El protagonista de American Beauty tuvo poca suerte hasta ahora con sus estrenos en el teatro Old Vic, de Londres, del que es director artístico, pero hizo diana con su interpretación de la última obra escrita por el dramaturgo norteamericano Eugene O'Neill (1888-1953).

Los medios aquí prodigan hoy elogios hacia la actuación del actor en A Moon for the Misbegotten (Una Luna para el bastardo), obra poco representada de ese premio Nobel, y suegro de Charles Chaplin.

Según las mismas fuentes uno de los factores de este triunfo proviene de los requrimientos que la pieza plantea a sus protagonistas.

La trama se desarrolla en una granja de Pensilvania y tiene como personajes a un granjero irlandés borracho, oportunista y manipulador, a su hija, Josey, y al propietario de la granja, Jim Tyrone, también beodo.

Sobre Tyrone pesa, asimismo, la sospecha del granjero y su hija de que aquél tratará de echarlos de allí para darse la buena vida en Nueva York.

Con el fin de evitar el desastre, el irlandés, interpretado por Colm Meaney, trata de utilizar a su hija (Eve Best) para que seduzca al propietario, lo que da lugar a una de las escenas de amor más desgarradoras de toda la historia del teatro norteamericano.

La muchacha, virginal y vulnerable, no obstante exhibir una máscara de dureza y mezquindad, es utilizada mientras que Jim se hace cínicamente la vista gorda bajo un mar de alcohol.

El personaje de Jim, inspirado en el propio hermano de O´Neill, ofrece a Spacey la interpretación de uno de los personajes alcohólicos más impresionantes de la escena moderna, subrayan los críticos de los principales diarios londinenses.

La semana pasada se estreno SUPERMAN RETURNS, y obviamente el dia de su estreno yo estuve presente.

La pelicula estuvo bastante bien(por momentos un poco pesada, demasiadas escenas romanticas).
Esta mas que claro que las mejores escenas fueron aquellas en las que aparecia LEX LUTHOR, y yo con camara en mano, iba sacando fotos.
La actuacion de Kevin fue mas que extraordinaria, y supongo que estara presente en una proxima pelicula.

PxDx: espero no volver a abandonar mi Blog por tanto tiempo, no se lo merece...

LONDRES (Reuters) - La estrella de Hollywood Kevin Spacey se comprometió el jueves a seguir al frente de uno de los teatros más famosos de Gran Bretaña, pese al vapuleo de la crítica y los interrogantes sobre por qué The Old Vic podría estar vacío durante los próximos cinco meses.
"Mi compromiso nunca ha sido más fuerte. Estas cosas lo hacen aún más fuerte," dijo a Reuters el ganador del Oscar y director artístico de la célebre compañía de teatro londinense.
Con los ingresos de la taquilla disminuyendo, la producción de The Old Vic de la obra de Arthur Miller "Resurrection Blues" cerrará el sábado, una semana antes de lo previsto.
La próxima obra actualmente programada en el teatro, vuelto famoso por Laurence Olivier, Peter O'Toole y Richard Burton entre otros, es una producción de la obra de Eugene O'Neill "A Moon for the Misbegotten" en septiembre, protagonizada por el propio Spacey.
Un impenitente Spacey, que lleva en el puesto dos años, reaccionó combativamente ante los críticos que arremetieron contra la obra de Miller, dirigida por el veterano de Hollywood Robert Altman, por su "resplandeciente ineptitud."
"Que la gente pida mi renuncia por las obras que ponemos en escena es el colmo de la arrogancia," declaró. "Los críticos no son los dueños del teatro. Encuentro exasperante que pidan mi dimisión porque no les gusta lo que hacemos."
"Es desquiciante cuando he venido a este país para hacer algo bueno y devolver algo de vida a un teatro con un accidentado pasado (...) No pido un paseo gratis pero tampoco creo que la gente tenga derecho a minar deliberadamente el trabajo que estamos haciendo," agregó.
Entre los críticos de la gestión de Spacey estuvo Nicholas de Jongh, del London Evening Standard, que se preguntó: "¿Ha llegado el momento de que Kevin Spacey entregue su corona?."
Bufando con ironía, el actor dijo que seguir el consejo de De Jongh sobre cómo dirigir un teatro era "como seguir el consejo de Donald Rumsfeld sobre una estrategia de guerra."
Spacey, que ha ganado el Oscar por sus papeles en "The Usual Suspects" y "American Beauty," dijo que más de 425.000 personas habían pasado por The Old Vic en los últimos dos años.
Entre los grandes éxitos de taquilla del teatro estuvieron "Ricardo II" de Shakespeare, que protagonizó él mismo, y la interpretación del actor clásico Ian McKellen vestido de mujer para hacer una comedia musical navideña en Aladdin.
Cuando tomó el control del histórico teatro en septiembre del 2004, Spacey se comprometió a estar al frente durante una década.
"Este es un compromiso de 10 años. Ahora estoy más determinado que nunca," concluyó.

Ayer dieron Belleza Americana por Telefe (un canal de aire de Argentina).

Como yo tengo el dvd original, me di cuenta que la version televisiva fue recortada, y supongo que habrá durado unos 15 o 20min. menos.

Estaba en español y con propagandas.

Como la peli ya la tenía en tres idiomas, inglés, español y portugues, no la grabé, pero lo que si grabé fueron las propagandas, que fueron muy buenas.

A los que todavía no vieron esta película ganadora de 5 premios de la Academia (Oscar), incluyendo mejor actor (Kevin Spacey) y mejor película, se las recomiendo.

Hoy grabé la entrega de los premios Grammy, por canal 12 (Argentina).

Si bien la categoría en la Kevin estaba nominado no apareció, lo mostraron entre la audiencia mientras aplaudía la canción que recién acababa de cantar Mariah Carey.

Suerte que lo grabé!
Por otro lado cuando vi la previa de los Grammy en E! Lo mostraron saludando, pero no le hicieron ninguna nota.

They may adore him in Hollywood but British theatre critics have proved a tougher audience for Kevin Spacey. Yet the scribes finally gave their nod of approval yesterday when the star of films that includeThe Usual Suspects and American Beauty was honoured at the Critics' Circle Theatre Awards for 2005.

Spacey, the artistic director of the Old Vic in London, was presented with the John and Wendy Trewin Award for best Shakespearean performance in Richard II. Michael Coveney, who reviewed the production for The Independent, presented the award, praising the "decisive professionalism" of his depiction of the monarch.

His Richard II was quite different from the self-pitying martyrdom of early 20th-century productions with stars such as John Gielgud, or the "exotic priggishness" shown more recently by Jeremy Irons and Samuel West, Coveney said. Instead Spacey brought "unexpectedness, brilliance and sheer presence" in a great production directed by Trevor Nunn.

Spacey acknowledged past tensions, joking: "This is from the critics, right?"

A number of the cast attended the ceremony in London and he thanked them for their support."I was quite terrified of taking on the role of an English king and trying to be convincing in both the language and the accent in a performance that made some sense but didn't necessarily come in a tradition of how Richards had been attacked before," Spacey said. "I'm enormously proud to have brought Shakespeare back to the Old Vic."

Critical reaction to much of Spacey's first season at the Old Vic was mixed to the point of hostile, with many condemning his choice of plays, although some admired his personal performances.

But the public have always loved the adoptive Brit, and he received further acclaim yesterday in the whatsonstage.com website awards voted for by the public. Spacey was voted best actor, defeating rivals including Simon Russell Beale, whose performance in The Philanthropist at the Donmar was the critics' choice. Richard II was voted the best Shakespearean production, while Ian McKellen's debut in pantomime at the Old Vic was the public's theatre event of the year.
Terri Paddock, of whatsonstage, said: "The public have supported Spacey all along but it's wonderful that he is being vindicated by the critics too."

Other winners at the Critics' Circle Awards were Eve Best, named best actress for Hedda Gabler. The public voted for Kristin Scott Thomas in As You Desire Me. Everyone united in praise for Billy Elliot.

The public chose Ewan McGregor and his Guys and Dolls co-star, Jane Krakowski, as best actor and actress in a musical.

Michael Grandage was named best director by the critics for The Wild Duck by Ibsen at the Donmar.

El domingo pasé por Blockbuster para alquilar la última película de Bruce Willis, Bajo Amenaza.

Por suerte me acordé que en el auto tenía un cupón para alquilar una favorita GRATIS, así que también me llevé una de Kevin, Outbreak(Epidemia).

Epidemia es una muy buena película, además de contar con la actuación de Kevin, trabajan Dustin Hoffman, René Russo, Cuba Gooding Jr., Donald Sutherland y Morgan Freeman. Estos dos últimos también trabajaron con Kevin en otras películas.

Hoy paseando por el centro, encontré Consenting Adults en DVD a sólo $19,90, una ganga, asi que la compré.

Antes también había encontrado Ordinary Decent Criminal, pero quizas la compre mas adelante.

Y adivinen qué, a la chica que atendía el local también le gustaba Kevin(Spacey).

Digamos la verdad, a quién le puede caer mal Kevin???

Ayer vi Consenting Adults por primera vez. Al principio me resultó un poco aburrida, pero los últimos 30/40 min. estan buenos.

Buscando en mi colección de revista de cine, recordé que Cinemanía había publicado un pequeño artículo sobre Kevin.

Kevin Spacey (46, La vida de David Gale) eligió al cineasta Shawn Levy (Más barato por docena) para dirigir 21, un proyecto que desde hace un tiempo prepara desde su productora, Trigger Street Productions. La película, que en un principio se conocía como Breaking Vegas, narra la historia de un grupo de estudiantes que es estrenado para convertirse en experto con los naipes. Una vez concluidas las lecciones, estos jóvenes pondrán en práctica todo lo aprendido en los casinos de Las Vegas. Spacey interpretará al profesor.

News: Richard II

Nuestra amiga de Ageniusatwork, Josie, nos acerca una noticia sobre la obra de teatro protagonizada por Kevin: Richard II.

Kevin and the Old Vic Theatre Company are bringing their production of Richard II to Germany in May. They will be performing it at the Ruhrfestspiele Theatre Festival in Recklinghausen for one week, from 3rd - 7th May 2006. It will be the first time the Old Vic Theatre Company transfers one of it's productions outside the UK. Much of the same cast as in London (including Kevin) will be performing in it again. Para aquellos que no saben inglés, esta noticia nos cuenta, que Kevin Spacey participará en un festival en Alemania, que se realizará en Mayo de 2006. En éste reestrenará Richard II, su última obra teatral.

Lex Luthor is Back, Kevin is Back

Una entrevista realizada por la revista Wizard, sobre Superman Returns.

Está en inglés, pero cuando tenga tiempo la traduzco al español.

Wizard: Although director Bryan Singer eventually won you over, this wasn’t the first time you’ve been connected to playing Lex Luthor, right?

Spacey: The funny thing is it’s been in the cards, or on the books, for about nine years, because when Tim Burton was directing the film I met with him. We had a very nice conversation but that movie never happened, and I never got offered it – the movie never got off the ground. Then Brett Ratner was going to do it and there were discussions then, but that never happened. It was always kind of floating out there as an idea and I always thought, “Maybe this will happen someday”. To me it’s one of those great, iconic parts.

W: How different is this Lex Luthor from the previous versions in the original films or on Smallville?”

KS: I think Bryan ’s been very attentive and respectful to the genre and what the fan base really wants, but he also brings a new direction to the character and how people deal with each other. This film is a much darker Lex Luthor than the Gene Hackman character. This is a bitter Lex. This is a Lex after a long time in prison. But there’s also still a lot of humor to it.

W: Lex – in the comics at least – is best when played as a man with a point, a man – not a Superman – who just wants what’s best for normal people. How do you approach him?

KS: Yeah, I think he does have a point. His argument is, “Superman is godlike, so he saves people, but he doesn’t give people what they need to save themselves.” And I think Lex has a slightly more capitalistic view, which is, give people what they want and Lex wants his share of it. And for him it’s always been about land. All the movies and the character is about him wanting land. There’s a lot of that.W: So, it’s not just wanting to kill Superman?

KS: No, he doesn’t just want to destroy Superman. That’s too simple. That’s something he knows he has to take care of and has spent a lot of years in prison coming up with exactly how to do it. But his bigger plan is to be the world’s greatest real estate mogul . [laughs]

W: I hear it’s more fun to play the bad guy than the hero . . .

KS: Never. [smiles] No, it’s not more fun to play the bad guy. That’s a myth. Really, it’s a myth.
I think people tend to say they like watching the villain characters, but it doesn’t mean they’re any more fun to play. I love playing so many different kinds of things. And movies are in so many ways these small moments.

W: How do you play Lex? Loud? Threatening? Evil scientist?

KS: It’s funny. We just spent hours doing what will be four seconds of film. You never really get – as an actor – to play the whole character. You play bits and pieces here and there. Then [editor] John Ottman and Bryan [Singer] decide how that character develops based on a wealth of material shot. Sometimes I play it very big and sometimes I play it very small and character-centered. It’ll be up to them how the character ultimately develops. My job is to try to provide as many of those colors as Bryan elicits from me. Ultimately, I’m the color in someone else’s painting.

W: How did you prepare to play Lex? Did you check out comics, watch the Richard Donner film?

KS: No, since this was so different from previous incarnations – although I looked at the previous movies for the fun of it and was like, “Wow, for a movie in 1978 this holds up.” But when you have a relationship like Bryan and I have, the way we work together and the fact that we’ve been looking for something to do together for the past 10 years, I do what I did last time and just put myself in his hands. He guides me.

W: Lex isn’t a powerhouse who can confront Superman physically, so how does he break a Man of Steel?

KS: For Lex and Superman, I think it’s always been – from the comics to the films – it’s always been about mind over muscle. That’s what we have in this film. . . with some twists.

W: Do you identify with Lex at all? Is there any of him in you?

KS: No, not at all. [laughs] He’s evil.
